UP NISMED conceptualized and co-developed the 10 sets of EskweKalikasan teaching modules. One of the key features of the teaching modules is the use of inquiry-based learning through the scientific argumentation approach, where students are encouraged to examine different issues confronting their environment. Each teaching module comes with a podcast intended for students, a student activity sheet, a PowerPoint presentation that complements the lesson discussions, and a video guide and a radio program episode for teachers.

The DZUP EskweKalikasan Project was principally funded by the Philippine Government under the General Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2019 through the initiative of the Office of Senator Loren Legarda, who is an advocate of environmental protection and management, climate resilience, and quality education.
