UP NISMED Conducts Pilot Run of Its Data Science for Educators Course

UP NISMED conducts a pilot run of the first part of its Data Science for Educators Course online this February 2023. The pilot implementation is a tri-unit activity participated by the faculty and staff from the UP Diliman College of Education, UP Integrated School, and UP National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development. Staff from the Center for Integrated STEM Education (CISTEM), Inc. also participate in the course.

The first part of the course covers three modules namely, Module 1: Data Science and Data in Our Everyday Lives, Module 2: Data Visualization, and Module 3: Exploratory Data Analysis. The second part consists of two Modules as follows: Module 4: Machine Learning and Module 5: Natural Language Processing. The pilot run of the second part of the course is tentatively set in March 2023.

In the introductory module of the course, Ms. Deborah Anne L. Colades points out that data can be presented in charts and graphs to make it easier to find patterns, which can then be used to gain valuable insights.

After this pilot implementation, UP NISMED, in partnership with CISTEM, Inc., will soon offer the course to teachers. Watch out for the schedule of this course offering soon!
