Two NISMED Staff Participate in MATHTED Conference

Dr. Erlina R. Ronda and Mr. Guillermo P. Bautista Jr. participated in the 12th Biennial International Conference on Mathematics Education held at the Legend Hotel in Puerto Princesa, Palawan on 24-26 October 2019 organized by Philippine Council of Mathematics Teachers Educators (MATHTED), Inc. Dr. Ronda was invited to participate in the panel discussion titled “Are we ready for Education 4.0” where she emphasized the importance of good mathematics lessons to compensate for the lack of technological resources in our country. Mr. Bautista, on the other hand, facilitated a workshop on “Fostering Student Autonomy in Problem Solving using GeoGebra” where he showcased GeoGebra’s capabilities in exploring mathematical objects and its potential as a tool for mathematics teaching and learning.

The conference which was attended by more than 200 teacher educators was hosted by the Philippine Council of Mathematics Teacher Educators (MathTED) and Palawan State University. Its theme “Mathematics Education 4.0: Issues and Innovations” aimed to update mathematics educators about the trends, issues, and innovations in mathematics education and research to address the demands of Education 4.0.
