Pride Month celebration in UP NISMED

UPNISMED employees and staff posed for a group photo after the film showing of Rainbow’s Sunset

On June 28, 2019, the NISMED Gender and Development (GAD) Committee sponsored a film showing entitled “Rainbow’s Sunset" in connection with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month. Pride Month is celebrated each year around the world in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan. In the Philippines, the main purpose of commemorating Pride Month was for LGBTQ+ to rally for acceptance and equality in the family and community. “Rainbow’s Sunset” is a Filipino family drama and LGBT-themed film directed by Joel Lamangan, starring Eddie Garcia, Tony Mabesa and Gloria Romero.

The film showing was held from 2:00 to 4:00 at NISMED seminar room. The GAD Committee had simulated the feel of a cinema – the seminar room was darkened and a good sound system was installed, with an overflowing different flavored-popcorn and drinks. The 41 NISMED staff sat back, relaxed and enjoyed the film. A customized rainbow souvenir pin was given to the moviegoers.
