UP NISMED Welcomes New Staff

The UP NISMED family is once again blessed with the addition of a new staff member. Joining the Research and Knowledge Management Group, Queenie Pearl D. Salazar is a graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Education with a degree of Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Mathematics, Minor in Chemistry. She is currently taking up her Master of Arts in Education (Mathematics Education) at the same university.

Before joining NISMED, Ms. Salazar taught mathematics at the elementary and high school levels. She had taught grade school mathematics in two private schools before she became a public high school teacher at the Manuel G. Araullo High School, where she won various awards, including Outstanding Mathematics Teacher and Outstanding Proficient Teacher. 

As a high school teacher, Ms. Salazar was actively involved in developing and reviewing learning materials and resources, as well as facilitating capacity-building programs for her colleagues. She also contributed to the ETulay program of the Department of Education’s Information and Communications Technology Service, where she served as an online and television tutor from 2021 to 2022. In her leisure time, Queenie enjoys reading novels and watching detective and mystery shows with her husband. She also loves spending quality time with her one-year-old child.
