Dr. Aida I. Yap, Science Education Specialist V and the immediate past director of UP NISMED, was awarded the Gawad Tsanselor sa Natatanging REPS this year. Together with family members, she received the prestigious award during the 2023 Gawad Tsanselor Ceremony held at the University Theater on 23 June 2023.
During her stint as Director of the Institute, and even before, Dr. Yap had spearheaded numerous NISMED projects. One of her most recent projects was the conduct of a free Training Program for Science and Mathematics Teachers and Instructional Leaders in Public Elementary and Secondary Schools in selected school divisions in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao during the pandemic.
Dr. Yap also led the 3-part project, Current State of Early Grade Mathematics Instruction: Kindergarten to Grade 3. The results of this project will serve as basis in designing content proposals for the professional development of the K to 3 teachers in the country.
