In celebration of the International Women’s Day on 8 March 2023, UP NISMED in partnership with the Austrian Embassy Manila, Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), and EURAXESS ASEAN, virtually launched the upcoming 2023 Women in STEAM Summit.
Graced by H.E. Johann Brieger, Ambassador of Austria, and Gustavo González, United Nations Resident Coordinator, the Summit Launch program included presentations by three women in the fields of green energy, impact entrepreneurship, and ICT.
As head of the Innovation Laboratory of Green Energy Lab in Austria, Susanne Supper shared the work they are doing in search of the best ideas to shape the future of energy.
Also from Austria, Anna Greil, founder and CEO of uptraded, recounted how her impact startup is advocating for sustainable fashion by creating a Swipe and Match Clothes Swapping app.
Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, Undersecretary for ICT Industry Development of the DICT, talked about DIWA—short for Digital Innovation for Women Advancement—a project that “aims to harness the role of ICT in advancing gender equality and empowering women to actively participate in building an inclusive and sustainable digital future.”
The Summit Launch ended with an open forum where the speakers addressed questions from online viewers. A recording of the webinar may be viewed via UP NISMED's Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/100054328159618/videos/535060095353387.
