Two New Staff Join UP NISMED

Meet Re’ Angelina “Gene” Villapando—the new member of the Audio-Visual Group!  Gene earned her bachelor’s degree in secondary education (major in mathematics) and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in education (major in curriculum studies) at the University of the Philippine (UP) College of Education in Diliman. For several years, she taught mathematics in high school and handled a mathematics enrichment program. An active member of the Curriculum Studies Association of the Philippines, Inc. (CSAPI), Gene serves as the auditor of the organization. This also gives her the opportunity to learn more about the trends and challenges in curriculum development.

The Information Science Group warmly welcomes Jobeth Martecio! Jobeth graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Physics from UP Baguio, where he thereafter taught general and advanced physics courses. After two years of teaching, he pursued his master's degree in physics at the UP Diliman as a full time DOST scholar. Jobeth was conferred the Excellence in Graduate Studies award for the MS Physics Program of the UP College of Science in Diliman. Passionate about teaching, he aspires to contribute to the advancement of teaching science (particularly physics) in the country.

Given the educational background and experience of Gene and Jobeth, both have a lot of potential to contribute in the fulfillment of UP NISMED’s mandate.
