Ms. Maria Laura V. Ginoy, a Creative Arts Specialist of UP NISMED, is one of the recipients of the first ever Dangal ng UP Diliman Awards. The virtual awarding ceremony was held on 24 June 2021. The Dangal ng UPD Awards is a high-level honor awarded to outstanding administrative personnel and REPS of the University of the Philippines Diliman. It recognizes the exemplary performance and ethical behavior of REPS and administrative personnel.
Ms. Ginoy, or Dindin to colleagues and friends, is the head of Art Section of the Institute. She has demonstrated an extraordinary dedication in performing her job. Her contribution to UP NISMED is invaluable. Being a very talented artist, her outputs are aesthetically impressive and of high quality.
One of the greatest contributions of Ms. Ginoy to the University, which made her different from the rest of the awardees, is her set of sculptures of the Fourteen Stations of the Cross, which ingeniously depicts The Passion of the Christ through hands, exploring the tactile and nonconventional approach and articulating each of the micro-narratives that rests solely on hand sculptures. The hand sculptures are located at the periphery of the walkway of the UP Parish of the Holy Sacrifice in UPD. Ms. Ginoy continuously maintains the sculptures in preparation for the Holy Week.
Ms. Ginoy is also involved in various outreach programs inside and outside of the University. Her service to UP NISMED and to the whole UP Community, embodies the ideal administrative employee whose work, dedication, and concern are an inspiration to many.
Congratulations, Dindin!
