A virtual retirement program was held on 30 October 2020 in appreciation of Rebecca “Rebie” C. Salayo’s 44 years of service to UP NISMED. The staff, some former colleagues, and members of the Salayo Family joined in and witnessed the event via Zoom.
Rebie started as Typist at the Typing Pool of the then Science Teaching Center in 1976. She worked as Secretary of the Director for a while before her appointment as Dormitory Manager II soon after the completion and operation of the Science Teacher Training Center in 1990, which included the NISMED Hostel as one of its facilities. For her entire years at the Institute, she demonstrated professionalism, determination, and dedication towards work.
Rebie’s genuine love and concern especially for the Hostel were always apparent. Dr. Dennis L. Danipog, one of Rebie’s colleagues and closest friends, recollected that every time they were on a trip, shopping for decorative items for the Hostel was always on Rebie’s agenda. He added that Rebie also organized the annual Christmas Party at the Hostel where she generously shared her blessings with co-workers and the janitorial staff.
Rebie is officially retired effective 19 March 2020.
Thank you for your services, Rebie. We wish you a long and a happy retirement!
