UP NISMED and International Partners Develop Resources for MATATAG Curriculum

The Department of Education is set to implement the MATATAG curriculum for the 2024-2025 academic year, starting with Grades 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7. To support this rollout, UP NISMED has initiated a project to create Mathematics and Science learning materials for Grades 4 to 10.

This project aims to produce lesson exemplars, learning activity sheets, and GeoGebra interactive activities that align with the MATATAG curriculum's standards. The focus is on enhancing critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and students' understanding of scientific and mathematical concepts.

Additionally, UP NISMED is partnering with international organizations to improve early grade education. The UP NISMED Elementary School Mathematics group, under the ABC+ project of the United States Agency for International Development, is working on Mathematics resources for Grades 1, 2, and 3. Concurrently, UP NISMED is developing Grade 3 Science resources for a project commissioned by the United Nations Children’s Fund. These efforts aim to provide age-appropriate materials to build a strong foundation in mathematics and science.
