UP NISMED, through its Information Science Group, trains 20 selected female ICT-track senior high school students from Pasay City South High School on creating apps. Conducted every Saturday starting 6 August until 24 September 2022, the training consists of eight online learning sessions on using the MIT App Inventor to create apps. During the opening program, Telstra Foundation Philippines Trustee, Mr. Yuri Gagarin shared stories about careers in Information Technology (IT) to inspire students to pursue IT programs in college. The training is part of Telstra Foundation Philippines' advocacy on STEM. In particular, it hopes to encourage more women to pursue careers in STEM. The program is headed by the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP).

The MIT App Inventor is a free web-based visual programming environment that makes use of block-based coding. It is developed by a team from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) led by Professor Hal Abelson.

Jobeth G. Martecio explains how to add codes to the user-interface elements to make them functional.
